What You'll be doing
The position provides support, information, and care navigation for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people with a cancer diagnosis, with a particular focus on remote communities within FWLHD.
- Work in collaborative partnership with existing FWLHD Cancer Services staff, Aboriginal Health Services (eg Maari Ma) and Primary Health Care providers and multidisciplinary team.
Build and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, Elders and Traditional Owners
Provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice that reflects the McGrath Model of Care.

How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible.
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. (N.B. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW).
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with relevant post-registration qualifications and/or at least 3 years' experience working with patients with cancer.
- Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with Registered Nurse Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, build and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Demonstrated ability to critically use patient clinical information to manage and navigate care, provide information and education to patients and carers/family, and escalate clinical concerns.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as a member of a multidisciplinary team, excellent time management and organisational skills with an ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communications skills to develop therapeutic relationships with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the LHD with potential for some overnight stays.
