What You'll Be Doing
Provide support, information, and care navigation for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people with a cancer diagnosis, with a focus on remote communities within Far West Local Health District (FWLHD).
Work in collaborative partnership with existing FWLHD Cancer Services staff, Aboriginal Health Services (e.g., Maari Ma) and Primary Health Care providers and multidisciplinary teams.
Build and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, Elders and Traditional Owners.
Provide leadership to facilitate ongoing development of clinical practice reflecting the McGrath Model of Care.
Qualifications and Experience
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with relevant post-registration qualifications and/or at least 3 years of experience working with cancer patients.
Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with Registered Nurse Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
Demonstrated ability to engage, build and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Demonstrated ability to critically use patient clinical information to manage and navigate care, provide information and education to patients and carers/family, and escalate clinical concerns.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to develop therapeutic relationships with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the LHD with potential for some overnight stays.
