About the role

We are seeking a friendly and experienced Medical Receptionist to join our team at the Canberra Paediatric And Specialist Centre in Deakin, ACT. This is a part-time role where you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to our patients and clinical staff.

What you'll be doing

  • Greeting patients and visitors in a warm and professional manner
  • Scheduling appointments and managing patient records
  • Handling patient inquiries and providing information about our services
  • Assisting with medical billing and insurance claims processing
  • Experience with Medicare billing and private health insurance claims processing required
  • Maintaining a tidy and organised reception area
  • Providing general administrative support to the clinical team as needed

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 12 months experience in a medical receptionist or healthcare administration role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in medical practice management software (such as Best Practice, Genie, or Pracsoft) and Microsoft Office applications
  • A professional, discreet, and empathetic approach when dealing with patients
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare industry standards is highly desirable
  • Experience in paediatric healthcare settings would be advantageous
  • Must have unrestricted rights to work in Australia
  • Current National Police Certificate required (or willingness to obtain)
