Hardie Grant is an Australian-owned independent publishing and media business working with authors and clients to create high-quality books, magazines, websites and content across multiple platforms.
We are seeking a part-time Senior Payroll Officer to join our Finance team. This is a highly valued, permanent position, ideally working 6 hours per day x 4 days per week (24 hours max). Reporting to the Finance Director, this position is responsible for preparing and processing of monthly payroll for all Hardie Grant companies within Australia and the United States.
Key Responsibilities of the position include:
• Preparation of accurate and timely monthly payroll processing for Australia and fortnightly payroll processing for our US office (circa 200 employees)
• Processing of Single Touch Payroll (STP) for all Australian entities, including the preparation of submission of the STP finalisation event for all Australian entities
• Reviewing and posting all payroll journals from the payroll software into the general ledger
• Responding to payroll related queries in a timely manner
• Maintaining accurate master payroll data in the HR System
• Ensuring employee and contractor superannuation payments are made monthly by set deadlines
• Liaison with P&C division to prepare payroll-related reports and analysis
• Oversee staff expense reimbursements (ProSpend)
• Preparation of employee termination calculations, in compliance with relevant legislation
• Monthly payroll tax payments and annual payroll tax reconciliations for all employing entities, by statutory deadlines.
Our ideal candidate will possess effective communication and interpersonal skills and is able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Other things we're looking for:
• Experience in a senior self-service payroll position
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practice
• Meticulous attention to detail and high data accuracy
• Advanced Excel skills and an analytical mindset
• Experience with payroll & time & attendance systems (employment hero/employment innovations highly desirable)

This is a permanent part- time position: 4 days/ maximum 24 hours per week (6 hour work days) with 3 days in the office and 1 WFH. Based in our new, state-of-the-art office in Collingwood, the salary for this position is in the range of $80,000 – $90,000 + superannuation pro rata.
