The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join the founding Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team at a
brand-new, state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility in Brendale
.

You'll be part of a small, high-performing crew responsible for bringing this critical asset to life and setting the benchmark for best-in-class operations from day one.

As part of the O&M team, you will:

  • Be a Founding Team Member:
    Work closely with a hands-on Foreman and skilled colleagues to establish the operational foundation for the new facility.
  • Shape the Culture:
    Help define a collaborative, safety-first environment where teamwork and accountability drive success.
  • Work with Cutting-Edge Technology:
    Operate and maintain advanced BESS, thermal management, and control systems at the forefront of Australia's energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of plant equipment.
  • Perform
    HV switching
    operations in line with established safety and operational procedures.
  • Monitor equipment performance, respond to alarms, and perform diagnostics as required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and operational records in
    CMMS
    and
    SCADA
    systems.
  • Issue work permits and supervise contractors when required.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across all site activities.
  • Participate in the site's on-call roster to provide after-hours response coverage.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Unrestricted
    Queensland Electrical Licence
    .
  • Certificate III or IV in
    Electrotechnology
    (or equivalent).
  • Minimum
    5 years' experience
    in a
    High Voltage (HV)
    environment (e.g., power station, substation, or heavy industrial facility).
  • Competence in reading
    electrical schematics
    ,
    single-line diagrams
    , and
    P&IDs
    .
  • Formal
    HV switching
    qualifications and permit issuing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with
    SCADA
    and
    Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
    .
  • In-depth understanding of
    OHS/WHS
    procedures and safe work systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team.
  • Valid
    Construction Induction (White Card)
    .
  • Required units of competency:
  • MSMPER300, MSMWHS201, UEPOPS116, UEPOPS036, UEPOPS124, UETDRIS017, UEPOPS021, HLTAID009, UETDRRF003, UETDRRF004.

Desirable

  • Experience with
    DC battery systems
    (up to 1500VDC).
  • Prior exposure to
    Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    or OEM-specific training.
  • Experience with
    instrumentation and control systems
    .
  • Familiarity with
    AEMO
    or
    Powerlink
    operational interfaces.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards including
    AS/NZS 3000

    AS/NZS 62271
    .
