In a nutshell, we need someone who loves working with their hands to ensure the efficient manufacture of products from our manufacturing floor in Brendale.

Your duties would include the assembly of transformers using power tools and machinery. Working as part of a team on our factory floor, you will be an integral part of the day-to-day running of our business.

About Us: Gayrad is an Australian-owned and operated, Queensland business that has designed and manufactured electrical transformers for over 40 years. Our high-quality electrical power equipment services the mining industry, railways, power/ supply authorities, and switchboard manufacturers.

  • Proven skills working with your hands and with power tools
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines and sometimes multitask.
  • You have solid organizational skills.
  • You're happy to work both independently and as part of a small team.
  • You're capable of meeting production schedules and manufacturing quota

Day-to-day Activities

  • Lifting and manoeuvring transformers manually, using overhead cranes or with a forklift
  • Inserting core steel into the transformer coils
  • Wiring, termination and labelling of transformers
  • Mounting transformers into an enclosure

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Product Assembly using power tools & machinery
  • Basic fabrication, such as cutting, drilling
  • Check stock levels and report deficiencies in products or raw materials
  • Review and follow manufacturing manuals to build products
  • Meet the deadlines of individual production tasks during shift
  • Keep the worksite clean to avoid hazards from chemicals and fragile products

Qualifications & experience

  • Experience working with power tools and machinery, including:

  • Drill press

  • Drop saw & Table Saw
  • Guillotine
  • Belt sander & cutter
  • Battery Drill, crimper, etc
  • Previous experience as a production worker, or a similar manufacturing role is highly preferred
  • A license to operate a Forklift is preferred
  • A manual drivers license is preferred
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and transfer them manually
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • You must possess full unrestricted working rights to Australia and New Zealand.
