The role: Trade Sales Assistant / Yard Operative

At Lyndons, we see this role as an essential part of our business operations and customer service success. As a Trade Sales & Yard Operative, you'll work both in the yard and at the trade counter - supporting customers, maintaining safe and efficient operations, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods in and out of the branch. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position where teamwork, safety, and service come first. Whether you're helping a customer find the right product or safely loading a delivery, you'll be part of a supportive team.

This position will be based at our Gladstone branch.

Responsibilities include:

Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet and assist customers at the trade counter and over the phone
  • Provide accurate information on products, pricing, stock availability, and orders
  • Process sales transactions, quotes, and customer orders efficiently
  • Learn about Lyndons' range of products and services to offer helpful solutions
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming trade counter area

Yard Operations

  • Assist with loading and unloading of deliveries and customer vehicles
  • Safely operate forklifts and other equipment
  • Prepare, organise, and maintain stock in the yard and storage areas
  • Ensure the yard and work areas are kept clean, safe, and compliant
  • Collaborate with dispatch, operations, and customer service teams to meet customer needs

Workplace Health and Safety

Take responsibilities on behalf of the organisation, but must also comply with requirements as workers, including:

  • Ensure a safe working environment exists for team members and customers
  • Ensure adherence to WHS policies and procedures
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of WHS issues
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviour

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • A current and valid Forklift licence
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Previous experience in a similar yard or warehouse environment

Ideally you will have:

  • Friendly and confident talking to customers
  • Willing to learn and follow instructions
  • Punctual, reliable, and takes pride in their work
  • A team player with a great attitude
  • Interested in a career in retail, trade or construction supply
