Kid Kyoto is not your average Japanese restaurant. Located in the heart of the CBD, we're known for our unique fusion of Japanese-inspired flavours with a fun, rock-and-roll attitude. We pride ourselves on a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative kitchen where creativity and passion are celebrated.

We are seeking a talented and reliable Sous Chef to join our energetic team. If you're passionate about great food, have a can-do attitude, and thrive in a high-energy environment, we want to hear from you.

The Role

This is a Full Time position, work hours including nights and weekends. You will work closely with our Head Chef and senior team members to deliver an unforgettable dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute food preparation, cooking, and presentation with high standards & consistency.
  • Adherence to all NSW Food Safety and WHS regulations, with strong focus on maintaining a clean & organised work stations.
  • Assist the Head Chef in all kitchen operations and management.
  • Work on various stations as required (hot, cold, grill)
  • Manage inventory, stock control, and food ordering to minimize waste.
  • Lead, mentor, and train junior kitchen staff, including casual employees
  • Contribute to menu planning, development, and recipe creation.

About You:

  • Previous role as a sous chef / junior sous in a similar, quality restaurant environment.
  • Meticulous in maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, with a deep knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Strong culinary & communication skills.
  • A self-motivated professional with a proactive approach, keen ability to use your own initiative.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethics.
