The Payroll Compliance Specialist will play an essential role in ensuring accurate payroll processes and adherence to compliance standards for SSP Australia. Based in either Melbourne or Sydney, this role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who excels with Award interpretation and working with payroll data.

Client Details

SSP Australia is a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations across the country. Since entering the Australian market in 2009 with its first launch at Sydney International Airport, SSP has experienced rapid and strategic growth. The company expanded into Brisbane and Hobart shortly after, and significantly boosted its presence in 2019 by acquiring 14 units from Red Rock across Perth and Melbourne Airports. In 2024, SSP further solidified its market leadership by acquiring Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE), adding 62 outlets across seven airports including Canberra, Townsville, and the Gold Coast. Today, SSP Australia operates over 100 units across 11 airports and one rail station, offering a portfolio of more than 70 brands-ranging from household names like KFC, Roll'd and Yo Sushi to bespoke local concepts such as Two Johns Tap House and Café Sol. This impressive trajectory underscores SSP's commitment to delivering high-quality, tailored dining experiences to travelers nationwide.

Description

  • Interpretation of Awards and application of data under review
  • Support the Payroll Manager during the fortnightly pay period with general enquiries, termination calculations, correction calculations and during payroll processing each fortnight to ensure accuracy
  • Support end of financial year processes
  • Assist with the rollout of new payroll processes and provide feedback on payroll system & HRIS best practice
  • Oversee system configurations
  • Support Big 4 consultancy with the extraction and interpretation of time & attendance data data validation
  • Liaising with current and former employees around remediation activities
  • Processing remediation payments

Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and software.
  • Experience managing end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills to address and resolve payroll discrepancies.
