Overview

Base pay range: A$150,000.00/yr - A$160,000.00/yr.

Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. This role is part of a service provider environment and involves leading payroll operations with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and delivering excellent service to employees.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery of effective and efficient payroll operations, including payment, disbursement, checking and reconciliation procedures.
  • Prepare, balance, and reconcile payroll data and related tax obligations; collaborate with the finance team on reconciling FBT, superannuation, and payment summaries.
  • Consolidate benefits with the P&C team and identify process improvements; manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure payroll information and records are maintained to statutory requirements and support internal/external audits related to payroll.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures; implement benchmarking exercises.
  • Monitor changes to payroll and tax legislation; manage risk, business continuity, and internal controls within payroll.
  • Provide strategic leadership for payroll systems, reporting, and process improvements; coach and develop a high-performing payroll team.
  • Collaborate with the Head of People, Culture & Safety and the broader People & Culture team to drive continuous improvement across payroll systems and workflows.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a Payroll Manager (minimum 5 years) handling payroll for 1,000+ employees.
  • In-depth knowledge of general payroll practices, legislation, Modern Awards, Payroll tax, WorkCover, and related jurisdictions; experience with ATO, Centrelink, and superannuation clearing houses.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in payroll calculations and processing; experience in a Health or Aged Care environment is helpful.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and priority-setting skills; strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced Excel and system reporting skills; proficiency with MS Office programs. Knowledge of NDIs Workers Screening is a plus.

What We Offer
