Technical Lead

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Technical Officer in Canberra/Sydney to work on a Fleet Information Environment (FIE) Modernisation project.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Manage the support team to provide advanced technical support for mission-critical IT systems.
• Ensure system configurations adhere to Defence ICT security protocols.
• Manage and support messaging infrastructure in a multi-forest distributed environment.
• Oversee maintenance, patching, and upgrading of Minerva systems.
• Provide training and mentorship to onsite technical staff.

What You'll Bring

• Highly developed knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Skype, Citrix, and Hypervisor administration.
• Experience with XMPP chat tools and VoIP.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in a management/leadership role in a support or service desk environment.
• In-depth knowledge of ITIL processes.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 1
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
