About the Role

We're looking for an experienced
Java Technical Lead
to provide technical direction and leadership across complex enterprise software projects. In this role, you'll guide a team of talented engineers to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions for key government and industry clients. This is an opportunity to shape architecture decisions, influence design standards, and ensure technical excellence across every stage of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade Java applications
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams
  • Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns
  • Drive technical discussions, design reviews, and solution planning sessions
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and project managers to align technical solutions with business needs
  • Ensure quality, performance, and security objectives are met across all deliverables
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement

Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in
    Java development
    , with recent experience in a
    technical leadership
    or
    senior engineering
    role
  • Strong proficiency with
    Spring / Spring Boot
    frameworks and
    RESTful API
    design
  • Deep understanding of
    software architecture, microservices, and integration patterns
  • Experience leading teams in
    Agile / DevOps
    environments
  • Proficiency with
    CI/CD pipelines
    ,
    Git
    , and
    cloud platforms
    (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to balance hands-on coding with strategic technical direction

Highly Regarded

  • Experience with
    containerization
    (Docker, Kubernetes) and
    infrastructure-as-code
    tools
  • Background in
    enterprise consulting
    or
    large-scale system delivery
  • Knowledge of
    security, authentication, and API management frameworks
  • Australian Citizenship
    – required for government client engagement
