On behalf of our clients who operate in the Australian Defence sector, I am currently looking for an NV2 cleared Technical Lead / Engineering Manager who has a solid ICT background for a long-term day rate contract based in Canberra.

As the Technical Lead you will be required to provide strategic leadership in the design, integration, and delivery of cloud-centric IT systems, while managing engineering teams and aligning technical execution with enterprise objectives. The position blends systems engineering and architectural expertise with engineering management responsibilities contributing to both technical direction and organisational capability development.

Main duties will include:

  • Leading the development of enterprise cloud and IT solution architectures
  • Overseeing system design and integration across cloud, legacy & emerging technologies
  • Directing engineering teams across cloud infrastructure, DevOps & security domains
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation & capability uplift across engineering functions
  • Developing and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks aligned to business strategy
  • Ensuring system interoperability, security compliance & operational resilience
  • Collaborating closely with project and technical teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions.

Essential skills / experience required:

  • 10+ years' experience in a technical leadership/management position - coming from a 'hands-on' career background
  • Proven experience leading cloud and IT systems engineering projects (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong background in DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & cloud security
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical strategy and engineering management
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT Systems Engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge & experience with Defence ICT frameworks highly regarded
  • NV2 Security Clearance
  • Canberra based
