Assistant Client Manager

Role Description

This is a full-time role for an Assistant Client Manager based in Mackay, QLD, with an option for a hybrid arrangement. In this role, you'll:

  • Manage a portfolio of C and D class clients, assisting them with their tax and business advisory needs.
  • Hold client meetings (including AGMs) to deliver tax strategies, software guidance, and business mentoring.
  • Provide tailored tax planning and structuring advice.
  • Apply strong technical knowledge to prepare and review: Individual and business tax returns, fax planning figures and analysis, financial statements across multiple entity types, Fringe Benefits Tax returns, CGT calculations, Division 7A compliance, and SGC obligations.
  • Collaborate with technical support team members to generate high-quality, accurate work.
  • Work closely with senior managers who will mentor and support you
  • Contribute to the team by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and promoting a positive work environment.

About You

  • Holds a Bachelor of Accounting (or equivalent degree).
  • Has 3+ years of industry experience in accounting/taxation, with at least 1+ year in a client-facing account management role.
  • Has a strong technical foundation in taxation and accounting, with the ability to translate complex rules into practical outcomes for clients.
  • Understands key areas such as: Non-commercial loss rules, CGT small business concessions, depreciation rules, Trust minutes, Franking accounts and dividends, Taxable Payments Annual Reports, Tax minimisation strategies
  • Is confident using cloud-based accounting software (Access Handi Tax, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks), practice management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine love for helping clients.
  • Thrives in a team setting and is committed to continuous learning and career growth.
  • Has strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
