Executive Officer

The Executive Officer is responsible for leading and managing the FNWJO to deliver on its strategic objectives and regional priorities, as determined by the Board. This role provides high-level leadership across governance, advocacy, planning, and stakeholder engagement to ensure FNWJO remains a trusted and effective regional body.
Operating under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1993 and associated regulations, the Executive Officer ensures the organisation meets its statutory obligations while driving innovation, collaboration, and impact with member councils.
The Executive Officer plays a pivotal role in preparing and implementing FNWJO's Strategic Plan, identifying opportunities for regional advancement, and advocating for whole-of-government responses to shared challenges.
The position supports the Board in navigating complex policy environments, maintaining strong intergovernmental relationships, and ensuring FNWJO's operations are transparent, efficient, and aligned with community needs.
Essential Criteria- Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and monitor the Statement of Strategic Regional Priorities.
- Board Support: Advise and guide the Board and member councils on matters of regional significance.
- Regional Advocacy: Represent FNWJO in intergovernmental forums and advocate for whole-of-government responses to shared challenges.
- Financial and Resource Management: Manage the people, finances, resources, work, services, and projects of the organisation efficiently and effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain productive relationships with councils, government agencies, MPs, Ministers, and other Joint Organisations.
- Organisational Management: Oversee FNWJO's resources, services, and projects with efficiency and transparency.
- Knowledge & Relevance: Maintain deep understanding of regional issues and ensure FNWJO's profile remains credible and influential.
- Collaboration: Support member councils to work cooperatively for improved infrastructure and service outcomes.
- Class C NSW driver's licence
