
Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant

Join a well-established warehousing and distribution business in Melbourne's Northern suburbs. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeper to take ownership of a broad range of accounting tasks, work with a collaborative team, and contribute to process improvements across the business.
This is an on-site role.
What You'll Do
- Manage month-end tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations and payroll processing
- Complete daily bank reconciliations
- Prepare compliance reports, including BAS, FBT, payroll tax
- End-to-end Accounts Payable
- Process weekly payroll
- Maintain the fixed asset register and assist with inventory management (physical stock counting) as needed
- Support annual audit requirements
- Work closely with sales, operations, and inventory teams to identify and deliver process improvements
- Act as first point of contact for Finance for the wider business - answering queries in relation to invoicing and payroll etc
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeper
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems
- Great attention to detail with strong time management skills
- Positive, adaptable, and team-focused approach
- Excellent communication and a friendly demeanour and disposition - Willing and happy to help the wider business on any Finance queries
- Formal qualifications or progress towards such is welcomed but not essential — practical experience is valued equally
