Project Officer - Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

The NSW Government Brand, Advertising and Engagement team at the Department of Customer Service leads, delivers and reviews all-of-government brand, engagement and advertising strategies, policies, programs and services to meet government objectives and priorities. Within the team, Have Your Say supports the Department of Customer Service by engaging and consulting with industry, community, and government stakeholders. We conduct stakeholder mapping and research, develop targeted communication materials and produce compelling online consultations for the Have Your Say community engagement platform.

We're looking for an experienced and motivated specialist with excellent knowledge and experience in managing vendors and coordinating procurement projects within the stakeholder engagement, advertising and communications environment.

You will lead and manage the procurement for an online community engagement platform for Have Your Say, ensuring the platform is fit for audiences, stakeholders and government departments managing high profile policy development, legislative reform, service delivery and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be organised, adaptable to changing priorities and timeframes and able to distil complex information into plain English to ensure communications are clear, balanced and accessible to businesses, stakeholders and NSW Government departments.

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Lead the planning, coordination go-to-market approach and evaluation for the procurement of an all-of-government online community engagement platform for Have Your Say.
  • Understanding government procurement, ICT security and data privacy requirements and/or working closely with specialists in these areas to ensure compliance.
  • Lead the end-to-end stakeholder engagement, relationship management and communications in relation to the procurement process and subsequent implementation.
  • Lead proactive, reactive and time-critical communication briefings and research on the Have Your Say platform procurement, ensuring deliverables are achieved and relevant stakeholders are informed and supported.
  • Proactively identify and report on emerging and sensitive issues and provide strategic advice and support to the Manager on internal and external procurement issues to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver processes and guidance materials to ensure appropriate engagement techniques that reflect industry best practice for procurement and implementation.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in managing complex procurement projects, particularly those with a technology focus, within a stakeholder engagement, advertising or communications context.
  • Experience in change management communication, particularly in relation to ICT and systems implementation.
  • High level negotiation and project planning skills, with previous contract management experience highly valued.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts on complex programs and services to develop clear and timely communications.
  • High level attention to detail, organisation and prioritisation, while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience in using a range of digital communication channels.
  • Experience managing multiple relationships and building capacity and skills within and across teams.
  • Tertiary qualification and/or experience in relevant field and/or relevant work experience.
