About Us

AMSSA Youth Connect (AYC) is an inner-city, Multicultural youth group that operates under the Australian Muslim Social Service agency (AMSSA) in North Melbourne. AYC utilizes given spaces to host and run programs and activities that are designed to facilitate positive growth, empowerment and understanding of identities of young Muslim Australians. We offer young people a safe spaces and platforms to explore ideas, concepts and creative endeavours to help navigate the sometimes-complex issues they face in the ever-changing environment that we live in today.

The ideal candidate is a leader who can successfully develop and manage a diverse team. You will solve client problems while providing exceptional service and help develop new business opportunities. 

Responsibilities:

We are currently recruiting exceptional female candidate who will join the AYC board and lead the AYC Sisters. You will work across a variety of projects and manage over 30 Volunteers so you must enjoy stepping outside your comfort zone.

Your ongoing responsibilities as a part of the board will include:

  • Leading and managing the AYC sisters committee.
  • Overseeing and managing the daily operations of AYC.
  • Co-designing and implementing strategies to improve operations.
  • Overseeing and reporting on the progress and performance of programs and projects.
  • Working closely with the AYC Executive director and deputy director to effectively achieve AYC's strategic objectives.
  • Working closely and maintaining communications with fellow board members.
  • Liaising and engaging with a stakeholder organisation.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Stakeholder organisations.
  • Coaching and mentoring of junior Volunteers.

Special Requirements:

  • Demonstrated exemplary Islamic etiquette and behavior.
  • Proven experience in working in an Islamic environment with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Ability to promote Islamic values whilst adhering to the Quran and Sunnah.
  • Ability to interact with parents and elders and relate to them in all aspects of raising the youth in Australia.
