About the roleAs our Legal Finance Officer, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day financial operations of the firm, including trust accounting, monthly billing, and supporting compliance with legal financial obligations.
Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and issuing client invoices on a monthly billing cycle

Managing accounts receivable and following up on outstanding payments

Performing trust account reconciliations and ensuring compliance with legal trust accounting rules

Assisting with external trust account audits and year-end compliance requirements

Data entry and financial reporting using our legal practice management software (Smokeball) and Xero

Processing payments, performing bank reconciliations, and assisting with payroll (as required)

Liaising with solicitors and the business manager on billing and trust-related matters
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and confident managing financial processes in a professional services environment. Legal finance experience is highly regarded but not essential if you bring accounts and bookkeeping skills with a willingness to learn.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Experience in trust accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable and/or invoicing

Familiarity with monthly billing cycles and debtor follow-up processes

Proficiency in Xero, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial data

A discreet and professional manner, with the ability to handle sensitive client matters

Strong time management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others

Confidence working independently and taking initiative when needed

A positive, team-focused attitude and a willingness to help wherever needed
