About the rolesFILE MANAGEMENT CLERK
As a File Management Clerk, you will play a vital part in keeping our practice running smoothly, both behind the scenes and in client-facing interactions.
Your responsibilities will include:

Creating and maintaining client files, including organising digital court documents, indexing client records, filing, and archiving (we operate almost exclusively with digital files wherever possible)
-
Scanning, indexing, and saving documents into our practice management software (Smokeball)
-
Managing calendars by booking client appointments, diarising court dates, and scheduling internal meetings
-
Supporting the team with data entry, administrative tasks, and general office upkeep
-
Greeting clients and visitors with warmth and professionalism
-
Answering incoming calls and providing a calm, friendly first point of contact
-
Collaborating with the wider team to ensure client files and timelines are accurate and up to date
-
Prioritising client care and upholding ethical, professional standards
PARALEGAL
As a Paralegal, you will work closely with our legal team to assist in delivering exceptional client outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with a developing interest in family law who wants to gain valuable experience supporting solicitors on a range of complex matters.
Your responsibilities will include:

Drafting and preparing legal documents and correspondence
-
Conducting legal research and assisting with case preparation
-
Reviewing and managing disclosure materials
-
Assisting in preparing matters for court, mediation, and settlement negotiations
-
Liaising with clients, counsel, and other professionals
-
Monitoring deadlines and ensuring procedural steps are met
-
Assisting with file management, document indexing, and general legal admin
-
Recording time spent on tasks accurately
For File Management Clerks, no legal experience is required. Whilst a background in legal support or administration is preferred, it is not essential.
For both roles, we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude. We are especially interested in applicants who are:

Technologically savvy and open to learning new systems (we use several software tools to streamline our work)

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Word
For Paralegals, the following is also required:

Previous experience in legal support, administration or academics

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Legal research and analytical skills
-
An understanding of court processes and legal documentation (preferred but not essential)

Confidence managing competing deadlines and complex information

Whilst our preference is that the roles are full time, we are willing to consider part-time applicants who are available to work at least three days per week (e.g. three full days or four to five part days to suit school hours).
