We are an expanding Queensland based firm with a team of approximately 75 people across our locations in Brendale and on the Sunshine Coast, as well as an offshore team.  Our firm positions strategic planning as one of its core offerings guiding the elements of Tax, Audit and Accounting.  The SRJ Walker Wayland team services SME's, non-profit organisations, corporations, partnerships and individuals across areas of Accounting, Audit & Assurance, Business Solutions and Business Advisory.

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Supervisor to join our Business Services team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing a team of accountants, manage day-to-day accounting operations, and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.

You will oversee the preparation and review all financial statements, and ensure that all reports meet accounting standards. This role also involves detailed financial and variance analysis, assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes, and coordinating tax compliance. You will play an important part in identifying opportunities for improving processes and implementing practices that enhances efficiency and client outcomes. Providing and building strong client relationships will be important in the role, as you will ensure that proactive financial insights, guidance, and support is supplied to help clients achieve their business goals.

Ongoing training and development activities are provided through in house and external training, with your desire for career progression and professional development supported.

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
  • Professional certification such as CA/CPA is preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB and Quickbooks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights to support business decisions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
