The Company

Robert Half Executive Search has been retained to identify an accomplished Product Lead for the position of Director of Product Management, with the remit to expand an exciting, newly created business unit nationally and globally with the backing of a well-established market-leading multi-national firm.

This newly formed division within the organisation is focused on delivering highly specialized solutions. With a target market of the Insurance Sector, the firm's B2B technology platform offers clients seamless and unique procurement, automation and cost-saving solutions.

Reporting to the Global CEO of this business unit based in Sydney, the successful individual will play an integral role in the growth and market expansion globally of this specialty line of service. This position offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an experienced product leader to shape the future of this growing SaaS business.

The Role

As a key member of the Insurtech business executive team, the Director of Product Management will bring to life the opportunity for global customers and will work side-by-side with the Commercial Director to create a core team that will design and execute on the firm's Insurtech strategy.

In this newly created role, the Director of Product Management for the InsurTech Platform will lead the end-to-end development of a cutting-edge SaaS solution for global and domestic insurance clients. Acting as a Product Manager for the InsurTech vertical, the successful individual will craft innovative, scalable solutions that redefine processes for global insurance carriers.

The Director of Product Management will collaborate within the firm's Product Trio operating model, working closely with Engineering Leads and Product Designers to deliver a platform that aligns with customer needs, drives operational efficiency, and delivers measurable business outcomes. This role demands a strong mix of strategic vision, technical expertise, and customer-centric execution.

Role Priorities:

  • Platform Development - Define the product vision, roadmap, and functional requirements.
  • Product Solution Ownership - Drive seamless interoperability with clients' ecosystems and third-party suppliers via API integrations.
  • Prioritize Agentic AI to deliver a proactive, data-rich product environment
  • Integrate predictive analytics and smart reporting to enable forward-looking planning, exception handling, and scalable execution of Agentic AI.
  • Collaboration & Leadership - Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product Marketing, Sales, Finance and Customer Success, to align go-to-market strategies and feature releases.
  • Metrics-Driven Ownership - Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including adoption, user satisfaction, operational efficiency, and customer lifetime value (CLV).
  • Customer Advocacy - Actively engage with insurance carriers to discover pain points and potential solutions, gather feedback, validate product direction, and champion the value of the InsurTech platform.
  • Represent the firm in industry events and client meetings, positioning the InsurTech platform as a market leader.

The Ideal Candidate

Currently in a Product leadership position within an Insurance, Insurtech, FinTech or similar business, the successful candidate will likely have amassed over 5 years of product management experience, with a proven track record in B2B SaaS or enterprise platform development.

The opportunity will best suit someone with a demonstrated ability to translate customer insights into actionable product strategies through effective collaboration with cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization.

Working with product and engineering teams offshore, this role requires a well-organized individual with strong interpersonal skills to align product development with customer needs, company goals and global ambitions.

Competencies & Technical Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field. MBA or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience in owning the full product lifecycle in a software/tech environment as a Head of Product, Product Manager or Director of Product.
  • Strong understanding of API-driven platforms, data analytics and cloud-based solutions.
  • Proven experience in designing persona-driven, AI-enabled user experiences.
  • Metrics-Driven Approach: Proficiency in using data to inform decisions and measure success (e.g., adoption, CLV, satisfaction).
  • Proficient in defining and tracking key business KPIs.
  • Collaborative across globally dispersed teams in business and engineering.
  • Business acumen to proactively align product goals with financial outcomes in revenue, margin and cash.
  • Ability to partner with B2B sales for customer-centric solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Expertise in P&C insurance policies and claims workflows is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance is advantageous.
