About the role:
The Manager, First Nations Strategy and Engagement leads the development and delivery of initiatives that strengthen First Nations inclusion, capability and leadership across the ODPP.
You'll provide expert advice to senior leaders, embed First Nations perspectives in policies and programs, and foster a culturally safe and inclusive workplace.
Working with the Executive, the First Nations Advisory Group and community partners, you'll drive engagement, support emerging leaders, and influence change that improves outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across NSW's justice system.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide authoritative, culturally informed advice to the Executive and senior leaders on strategic priorities affecting First Nations peoples, ensuring their perspectives are embedded in long-term planning.
- Lead and support the delivery of First Nations employment and inclusion initiatives, ensuring alignment with legislative and organisational standards.
- Partner with Human Resources and business areas to review and strengthen policies, procedures and practices that promote a culturally safe and inclusive workplace.
- Provide specialist advice and develop action plans to address issues affecting First Nations staff and workforce outcomes.
- Manage and deliver projects, reports and briefs to support the implementation of First Nations strategies and ensure outcomes are achieved on time and within budget.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives and report on organisational performance against key benchmarks.
- Support the First Nations Advisory Group through secretariat and coordination functions.
- Promote awareness and participation in key First Nations events and programs, including mentoring and staff engagement initiatives.
- Build strong relationships and communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
About you:
- Degree, tertiary education or previous experience in a relevant area (e.g. Project management, diversity and inclusion, human resources).
- Have experience working within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Have an understanding of diverse cultural needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and how this may relate to victims in a legal/ criminal justice setting.
