An opportunity is available to join the Strategic Sourcing team as a Procurement Support Officer in our Melbourne office.
The Role
We are seeking a Procurement Support Officer to support the Category Managers and Strategic Sourcing team. This role encompasses not only tendering major contracts but also supporting the Category Managers to deliver customer led solutions, building annual category plans, driving cost improvements, category analysis and building trusted supplier relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyse Procurement Tenders and Solutions: Conducting analyses to evaluate procurement tenders and develop effective solutions.
- Develop Procurement Category Strategies: Actively participate in the creation and implementation of strategic procurement category plans.
- Maintain Supplier Records and Ensure Contract Accuracy: Keep comprehensive and up-to-date records of contracts and supplier lists to ensure efficient management and accessibility.
- Manage Supplier Inquiries: Handle daily supplier inquiries promptly and professionally to maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Contribute to Procurement Solutions: Engage in the development and enhancement of diverse procurement solutions to address the dynamic needs of our growing client base.
- Assist in Supplier Evaluation: Support the evaluation and assessment of supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations.
- Support Cost Reduction Initiatives: Assist in identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within the procurement process.
- Monitor Market Trends: Stay informed about supply market trends and industry developments to provide insights that can influence procurement strategies.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
- Utilise Tender Software: Leverage procurement software and tools to streamline processes and enhance data management
- Prepare Reports: Compile and prepare reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost analysis for management review.
We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:

- Advanced Analytical Skills: Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and other analytical tools to support data-driven decision-making.
- Procurement Experience: Preference for candidates with proven experience in a Local Government or a corporate procurement function such as FMCG, B2B or a Services sector.
- Collaborative Team Player: Works well in a team setting, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
- Ethical and Professional Integrity: Upholds high ethical standards and professional integrity in all interactions and transactions.
