Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Sharp & Carter Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

An Australian industrial manufacturing company with international reach are seeking a Transport Manager to lead, optimise and improve their transport operations across NSW. With responsibility for multiple sites, a mixed workforce and a complex network with plenty of opportunity for uplift, this role suits someone who thrives in solving operational problems and building structure where it's needed most.

About the Role
This is a critical leadership role overseeing transport operations across NSW. You'll manage a team of supervisors, schedulers and drivers, and play a pivotal role in improving efficiency, visibility and consistency across a high-volume, fast-moving environment.

You'll also be part of the state leadership team, working closely with operations, commercial teams and site leaders to optimise product movements, improve truck utilisation, and modernise processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily transport operations across multiple NSW sites, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective movement
  • Manage and support a team of supervisors, allocators/schedulers and drivers.
  • Move the function from basic allocation to true scheduling and optimisation.
  • Analyse operational constraints such as delays, forklift availability, site layouts and drive continuous improvement in partnership with site teams.
  • Use data from multiple systems and Excel to understand trends and build simple reporting
  • Identify causes of demurrage, long wait times and driver delays, and implement solutions to reduce cost and improve flow.
  • Support major investment decisions by identifying on-site bottlenecks and required improvements.
  • Contribute to broader state leadership discussions and influence transport strategy and planning.

This role is based in South West Sydney with travel to Sydney CBD & Newcastle.

About You
We're looking for an improvement minded transport leader who is analytical, hands on and able to bring structure to a complex, evolving environment. You'll be patient, practical and confident working through slow or challenging change.

You will have:

  • Experience in transport, logistics or fleet management
  • Ability to lead and develop teams across multi-site operations.
  • Strong analytical capability - comfortable working in Excel, reviewing data and identifying opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success improving efficiency, solving operational bottlenecks and lifting performance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across drivers, supervisors, site leaders and senior stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to understand what's really happening on the ground.

Why Join?
This role offers the chance to make a significant impact in a business undergoing real operational transformation. In the first 6 months you'll focus on building visibility, stabilising processes and improving day-to-day scheduling. Over time, you'll help reshape how transport is managed across NSW, influence major site improvements and contribute to long-term fleet and operational strategy.
