In this role, you'll:
Work as part of the Place Making and Precinct Activation team within the Property and Place division, providing subject matter expertise to deliver and influence place making, precinct planning and development outcomes relating to metro station precincts and adjacent areas.
Working primarily on the Sydney Metro West project, you will be working closely with a range of stakeholders including Sydney Metro Customer, Transport Planning, Operations, Project Delivery, Technical services and external stakeholders.
You will lead activities to help ensure that metro station, interchange and precinct elements meet Sydney Metro's project requirements and customer outcomes and respond to relevant legislative, design excellence and wider government strategic planning objectives.
As Manager, Urban Planning or Manager, Precinct and Place, you'll play a pivotal role in providing subject matter expertise to influence place making and precinct planning outcomes.
This role demands a highly capable urban planner and/or urban designer with extensive experience in strategic planning and playing a lead role in various phases of major project development, design and delivery.
You'll help shape vibrant precincts where communities can live, work, and connect.
You will have extensive subject matter expertise and a proven ability to provide technical advice to influence place making and precinct planning outcomes throughout various project phases.
This will include during procurement and design development phases to ensure new metro stations and precincts are designed to respond to context and deliver optimised customer, place, community and commercial benefits.
These are highly collaborative roles requiring strong relationship-building and coordination across multiple stakeholders, including internal project teams and external stakeholders such as the wider Transport for NSW cluster, Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, etc. to ensure a unified approach to delivering outcomes aligned with project objectives and Government priorities.
We're hiring for two fixed-term roles (until 30/06/2026): Manager, Urban Planning and Manager, Precinct and Place.

About you
You are tertiary qualified in urban planning and/or urban design or an equivalent relevant discipline.
You have extensive experience in strategic planning and/or urban design, particularly in leading activities for major infrastructure or urban development/master planning projects and have a keen interest in delivering city shaping and place making outcomes.
Advanced communication and technical skills to effectively influence and deliver timely project outcomes and proactively build collaborative relationships with multiple internal/external stakeholders in a complex multi-project environment.
Please note that the team are currently enjoying a hybrid way of working with an expectation of working 2-3 days in the office.
