The Opportunity

Are you passionate about hospitality and creating memorable customer experiences? We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Front of House Duty Manager to be a part of our café team and ensure every visitor enjoys a warm and welcoming environment.

As the Front of House Duty Manager, you'll be the face of Sugar Café, responsible for running shifts, maintaining high service standards, and supporting a positive team culture. This is a hands-on role where you'll work alongside the team, actively contributing to daily operations and leading by example. You'll play a key role in ensuring smooth service, safety compliance, and financial accountability, while promoting the wider Chelsea Bay experience.

The primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead the Front of House team during shifts, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Uphold liquor license responsibilities and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, inviting, and efficient café environment.
  • Handle customer feedback with empathy and professionalism.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to support their growth and performance
  • Coordinate with internal teams for maintenance and operational needs.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and financial reporting

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience in café or customer service roles.
  • Previous experience supervising staff is preferred.
  • Duty Manager Certificate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for customer service.
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand immediately.
