What you'll be doing:
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is committed to improving the care provided to our patients in line with our vision of Working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. SESLHD Drug and Alcohol Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers. Outpatient D&A services are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St. George and Sutherland Hospitals. Our goal is to improve health, wellbeing and social outcomes for individuals, families and the community, related to drug and alcohol use.
SESLHD D&A strives to be a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, as well as workers. The purpose of this role is to plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Social Work in order to provide high quality Drug and Alcohol Care care to ACM patients of SESLHD D&A consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards. This role includes responsibilities for supervision, quality improvement initiatives, education delivery to other health care professionals and the teaching of students on clinical placement.

Selection Criteria:
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligibility for membership of the AASW and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Drug and Alcohol.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education and support to others in providing service excellence
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes
- Demonstrated active participation in developing, implementing and reporting on services.
- Unrestricted Class C (or above) driver's license.
