The company was established in 2018 through the acquisition of the long-established Queensland Truck Centre, which they've continued to grow through strong industry partnerships across Queensland, the Northern Territory, and regional New South Wales, WTG is built on a legacy of reliability and performance and enjoys an outstanding reputation for delivering exceptional service.
With 9 full-service dealerships and a powerful network of 20 regional Customer Service Centres, WTG offers one of the largest and most dependable support networks for Volvo, Mack and UD trucks in Australia. Backed by a team that truly understands transport, they take great pride in their commitment to keep their customers on the road, whether it be owner operators with a single truck, or companies with national fleets.
To support this commitment, WTG have restructured their operations and now require the services of a General Manager People and Culture to develop and implement strategy across all aspects of team capability, development and safety. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the General Manager People and Culture will be responsible for providing expert leadership and operational guidance to both their direct reports, and other members of the leadership team.
The ideal candidate will possess high levels of drive and commitment, as well as experience and expertise in the formulation and implementation of highly effective strategies that foster a skilled, engaged and motivated workforce.
The Position:

Provide leadership across all aspects of People and Culture;

Work with leadership to develop a people and culture strategy that drives operational performance by identifying gaps between existing and desired practices throughout the organisation, and formulating strategy and plans to address these gaps;

Partner with the executive leadership team to influence and lead organisational change and transformation;

Lead workforce planning and talent strategies designed to attract, develop and retain top talent;

Lead succession planning, leadership development and career pathway initiatives;

Design and facilitate leadership development programs to build internal capability and succession, and coach and mentor leaders in the rollout of initiatives across their respective teams;

Champion a strong safety culture aligned with organisational values by ensuring HR policies and procedures comply with all current legislation and standards.
The Person:

Formal qualifications in an HR related discipline essential;

Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in HR leadership roles, ideally within a complex, fast paced environment highly desirable;

Proven track record of success in the design and delivery of organisational development and operational excellence initiatives;

In-depth knowledge of best practice in ER, IR and industry trends;

Thorough understanding of HRIS and payroll systems;

High levels of emotional intelligence, ability to relate at all levels of the organisation;

Strategic thinker with strong business acumen;

Highly consultative, strength in communication, organised and empathetic.
