Purpose of the Role
As the Business Services Manager, you will manage and coordinate the Business Services Team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional accounting services to your allocated clients. You'll provide technical oversight, mentor your team, and identify opportunities for both client growth and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Workflow Management
- Lead and mentor accountants and Client Service Coordinators (CSCs) in your team
- Manage workflow through weekly meetings and daily liaison to ensure smooth operations
- Support team development and foster a high-performing, collaborative environment
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing advice, compliance support, and ongoing communication
- Conduct client meetings, tax planning discussions, and exit meetings as required
- Build strong client relationships that enhance satisfaction and loyalty
Identification of Opportunities
- Review client files to identify value-add opportunities and advisory services
- Implement efficiency improvements in engagement and compliance processes, including:
- Engagement letters
- Client workpapers
- Source document collation
- Software utilisation
- Collaborate with senior leadership on continuous improvement initiatives
Technical Review & Professional Competency
- Ensure client work is technically accurate and compliant
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of small business tax and accounting requirements
- Act as a technical resource for your team, supporting their professional development
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere to firm policies regarding private work outside the Group
Candidate Profile
- Experienced in managing a team of accountants or client service staff within a mid-tier accounting firm
- Strong technical expertise in small business accounting, compliance, and advisory services
- Excellent client engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Proactive, organised, and solutions-oriented, with experience driving efficiency and process improvements
- Thrives in a supportive, collaborative culture that values personal development
