About the Role
The Credit Assessor is responsible for end-to-end assessment of loan applications, ensuring that each deal meets company credit policy, risk appetite, and compliance requirements. This role suits candidates with a minimum of 2 years' experience in credit assessment in commercial lending space. Working closely with our BDMs, brokers, and internal stakeholders, the Credit Assessor will evaluate loan submissions, conduct due diligence, and provide well-structured recommendations to management and the credit committee. Attention to detail, sound credit judgment, commercial sense and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct thorough reviews of loan applications to ensure the loan application is alignment with fund and credit policy
· Review and analyse supporting documents including but not limited to valuations, titles, credit reports, A&L, and PPSR reports
· Identify and assess credit risks in loan applications and propose mitigants and conditions
· Clear communicate with BDMs, brokers, and solicitors to obtain required documentation and clarify application details.
· Prepare concise and accurate credit papers for presentation to management and the credit committee.
· Support the ongoing monitoring of loan portfolios, including covenant compliance, arrears management, and reviews.
· Contribute to the development and refinement of credit policy and procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of credit assessment experience, preferably within private lending, non-bank, or mortgage management.
- Strong understanding of commercial lending structures, including first and second mortgages, and corporate trusts.
- Proven ability to interpret financial statements, legal documents, and lending security packages with high attention to detail
- Sound understanding of property valuations and legal securities documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
- Competence using loan origination and loan management systems (e.g. FinPower, EasyLodge) and a self-driven, accountable approach to workflow
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset, willing to support colleagues and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
