OnTalent is proud to be partnering with Lady Gowrie Queensland (LGQ) in the appointment of their next Chief Operating Officer (COO) – a pivotal role that will shape the future of early learning and family support services across the state.
Lady Gowrie Queensland has been a cornerstone of the community since 1940, delivering high-quality, affordable early childhood education and care (ECEC) through long day care, community kindergartens, and integrated child and family services across metropolitan, regional, and remote Queensland.
The Opportunity
As COO, you will work in close partnership with the CEO and Board to ensure Lady Gowrie's continued success and sector leadership. This role offers the rare chance to balance educational pedagogy and practice excellence with sharp commercial acumen, ensuring both mission impact and long-term sustainability.
The COO will oversee operations statewide, strengthen governance and compliance frameworks, and drive innovation and growth while maintaining a strong commitment to Lady Gowrie's values of excellence, inclusion, engagement, and integrity.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a geographically dispersed portfolio spanning long day care centres, kindergartens, and early years programs – both corporate owned and affiliated
- Champion evidence-based, outcomes-focused practices that consistently exceed the National Quality Framework.
- Drive organisational performance by embedding robust governance, financial sustainability, and workforce optimisation.
- Partner with government, sector leaders, and community stakeholders to advocate for the ECEC sector and Lady Gowrie's role within it.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration across a large, diverse workforce.
About You
We are seeking a leader who can seamlessly integrate educational leadership with commercial strategy. You will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications and significant leadership experience in Early Childhood Education and Care or a related community sector.
- Proven ability to lead multi-site, complex operations at scale.
- Strong financial and workforce management skills, with a record of driving organisational sustainability and growth.
- Sophisticated stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across government, community, and sector organisations.
- A commitment to strengthening outcomes for children, families, and communities.
Why Consider This Role?
This is an opportunity to step into a mission-driven executive role with an organisation that has been trusted by Queensland families for over 80 years.
As COO, you will have the scope to shape statewide strategy, lead innovation, and ensure Lady Gowrie Queensland continues to thrive as both a sector leader and a vital community partner.
