Healthy lungs for all.
For more than 30 years,
Lung Foundation Australia
has been the nation's leading charity and peak health body for lung health — championing research, policy reform, and support programs that transform lives. Recognised nationally for its growth, influence and award-winning culture, the organisation is now entering an exciting new phase under its 2026–2030 Corporate Strategy. To support this next stage of evolution, Lung Foundation Australia is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Leadership Team.
About The Role
The Chief Financial Officer provides executive leadership for Lung Foundation Australia's financial sustainability, corporate governance, digital enablement, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board and its Subcommittees, the CFO plays a pivotal role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic alignment across all business operations.
Based in Brisbane, this role oversees finance, payroll, risk and compliance, IT and digital transformation, ensuring systems and structures support the organisation's continued growth and national impact. The CFO will also act as Company Secretary, ensuring full compliance with governance frameworks, legislative requirements, and ethical investment practices aligned with Lung Foundation Australia's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership, planning and analysis to support organisational growth and sustainability.
- Lead the development and implementation of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.
- Oversee digital and data transformation, including cybersecurity, privacy and IT infrastructure enhancements.
- Drive ESG reporting, sustainability metrics and ethical investment strategies.
- Manage relationships with the Board, auditors, legal advisors, funders and key government and statutory stakeholders.
- Foster a values-based culture and lead high-performing teams across finance and corporate services.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate is an accomplished financial and corporate services executive with demonstrated expertise in finance, risk, governance and digital systems. They will bring strategic acumen, operational rigour and a collaborative leadership style suited to a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.
Key requirements include:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting or business, with CPA or CA accreditation.
- Minimum of ten years' senior leadership experience within complex, multi-stakeholder organisations.
- Demonstrated success advising Boards and Subcommittees and managing governance and statutory compliance.
- Advanced capability in financial management, taxation, reporting and regulatory oversight.
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in the not-for-profit, charitable or health sector is desirable.
- Familiarity with SAGE Intacct and Salesforce systems is advantageous.
