  • Position: Clerk 5/6 Administration Officer.
  • Located in the Gateshead Office, Lake Macquarie West Principal Network.
  • Ongoing full time.
  • 3 days per week in Gateshead Office and 2 days per week negotiated flexible working arrangements.
  • Salary: Clerk Grade 5/6 with salary packaging ranging from $99,938 to $110,271 + super and annual leave loading.

About the role

The Administration Officer provides high level executive and administrative support to the Director, Educational Leadership as they support approximately 20 school communities. The role involves managing the calendar and travel arrangements of the Director, Educational Leadership, assisting with correspondence preparation, liaising with principals and parents, and providing information about schools to community members and staff within the department. An understanding of school operations and current agenda of public schools would be an advantage.

 The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:


• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work as part of a team.


• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail.


• Demonstrated experience providing high quality administrative support, including managing records, databases and office systems.


• Addressing unforeseen issues, managing a high volume of work and the need to work independently.


• Responding to and resolving complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information and the timely and efficient resolution of issues.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check) for paid employment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
