**UPPER NORTH SHORE/NORTH SHORE /NORTH SYDNEY/SYDNEY CBD*

Working with the Food Manager - Preparation of a variety of Indian subcontinental style of food, basic cooking, e.g. roti wraps, rice, chicken and veg dishes, snacks for a small cafe/bar.

Someone who has a good understanding of spiced up african/indian fusion of spicy hot dishes, rotis, paranthas and chapattis; someone with flair and a creative eye to complement a range of hot masala chais.

Position is fairly mobile - schedule will include travelling between Ambi's Chai Bars creating and cooking stunning and flavoursome dishes with a team of vibrant chai and food specialists.

Ability to drive, having car may be a worthwhile asset.

A high level of autonomy required; resourceful and have initiative.

Range of duties:

  • Responsible for the cooking, creating and roducting specialty types of meals and recipe development (ethnic, roti/curries, etc.). Working with managers to provide a range of different food offerings to suit a specialty cafe/bar.
  • Ensuring food preparation, presentation and service is carried out to expected standards and the offerings are kept unique and are constantly rotating to keep customer interest.
  • Maintaining a high standard of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness.
  • General cleaning and dishwashing
  • Conducts and prepares menu presentations together with bar team to develop new and innovative dishes for customers.
  • Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food items according to approved specification and recipes. To ensure that food preparation is made on time within designated times and schedules.
  • Check all materials and foodstuff ensuring that they are used before spoilage.
  • Keep all food preparation areas clean at all times.
  • Maintain efficient sanitation services and cleanliness
  • Assisting with stocktakes
  • Maintaining kitchen equipment and food service and storage areas in an orderly clean and safe condition
  • Assisting with opening and closing of premises, conducting bar shifts and duties
  • Reporting any food safety and WHS hazards, accidents and incidents.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour
