Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The role shares responsibility for business development and sales activities of Emergence in your allocated portfolio within Victoria and Tasmania, ensuring that operational and financial performance, along with sales and retention targets are met. This role also gives you exposure to and allows you to provide input into the national distribution strategy.

The role will also come with 'underwriting authority' which will allow you to make underwriting decisions in the brokers office, allowing you to add value to the relationship and make timely decisions.

The role will involve developing strategic plans and executing these. The role has a heavy focus on business and relationship development. You will develop a pipeline of opportunities and execute these in line with the strategic plan. You will also be responsible for developing new business and retention target from our existing and new relationships.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and lead strategy for business development in your assigned portfolio within Victoria and Tasmania to achieve growth targets, operational and financial goals

  • Develop strategies in order to achieve predetermined new business and renewal retention targets in conjunction with underwriting guidelines and delegated authority

  • Maintain high levels of internal and external client contact to generate growth opportunities in collaboration with the Emergence team, along with internal and external stakeholders

  • Event management – manage and attend association meetings, trade shows, expo's and conventions as necessary

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of business development and leads through identification and connection of new partnerships and the development of new markets

  • Support the gathering of market intelligence on competitor offerings, sales strategies, new products, sales campaigns and events

  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders within the business in order to improve collaboration, identify opportunities to improve services and ensure client satisfaction

  • Participate in Presentations to the market as required

  • Support the creation and frequent delivery of newsletters, blogs and webinars to the market

  • Promotion of existing organisational products, and the identification of new product opportunities

What we are looking for

  • Ideally you come from an insurance or finance background and have standing relationships with intermediaries in the local market
  • Ideally you have cyber insurance experience
  • You enjoy building and fostering partnerships
  • You are keen to role your sleeves up, learn & solve problems
  • You are always looking for ways to help
  • You can work autonomously

Skills and Competencies

  • Can have a business or technology background
  • Preparing and presenting technical reports, analysis and documents
  • Undergoing training either formally or informally on a regular basis
  • Contributing to team projects
  • Manage workload within specific timelines

With support from the Emergence Team, the opportunity will quickly develop the following;

  • Working knowledge of cyber insurance products
  • Understanding and exposure to various functions within an insurance company – (underwriting, claims, product development, finance, marketing and sales)
  • Sound skills in negotiation, communication and relationship management
  • Ability to develop rapport, listen and deal with queries from brokers, clients and staff

Qualifications and Key skills

  • Can come from a business or technology background
  • Sales experience and relationship building with insurance brokers
  • Working towards (or have obtained) tertiary qualifications
  • Working towards (or have obtained) Tier 1 accreditation
  • Developing communication. organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Developing technical capability
