About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Yurrongi Centre Communications Officer to develop and deliver a communications strategy that amplifies the student voice and promotes the Yurrongi Centre across Melbourne Polytechnic and the broader community. You'll play a key role in creating engaging content,managing social media platforms, and supporting cultural events that celebrate and strengthen Koorie student experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, post, and maintain content for student and staff portals and social media channels (Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
  • Promote the Yurrongi Centre and its initiatives across Melbourne Polytechnic and the wider community
  • Develop and deliver campus events that promote cultural awareness (e.g., NAIDOC, Moodji Day, Yarning Circles)
  • Produce multimedia content (video, photography, written materials) showcasing Koorie learner experiences
  • Support other student-focused events and administrative functions as required
  • Collaborate with the Yurrongi Centre team to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement
Skills and Experience Required
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, or creative industries
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and content creation strategies
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively
Additional Requirements

Successful candidate will be required to provide:

  • A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • A National Police Check
