Business Development Manager

PPG is an American Fortune 500 company and global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials. We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to be based in Welshpool WA as part of our Refinish team. The successful candidate will report to the WA Refinish Business Manager and be responsible for growing PPG sales, profitability, and market share of Paint and Associated Products in all segments of the ANZ Refinish business. By winning new customers, you will contribute to the overall growth and profitability of PPG across Welshpool and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Increase market share and volume through winning competitor business.
- Use the PPG Business development pipeline tool to manage prospect customers.
- Collect data to be used to report demonstration outcomes to business owners, managers and board members.
- Negotiate changeover and new business deals.
- Build strong relationships with PPG Distribution Network building a competitor target pipeline.
- Increasing the customer base through attending networking events, researching prospects, cold-calling potential customers, following up on incoming leads .
- Writing business proposals for new customers.
- Negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts.
- Ensure that product application is carried out in a professional manner, generating data and information that the business can depend upon.
- Monitor competitor products including new product releases and assist in producing data useful to the sales & marketing teams, including pricing and measured performance data.
- Recognise users of competitive brands and create tactics to gain entry to showcase the advantages of using Refinish Coatings products.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including ability to present business results and make proposals to management.
- Good IT skills including the ability to collate and analyse data.
- Since the role necessitates obtaining the confidence and co-operation of others in diverse parts of the business, interpersonal skills are key to this role.
- Proficiency in technical knowledge of refinish & Industrial paint products and application techniques is desirable.
- Having prior experience with competitor products can be advantageous.
- Possessing a trade qualification in spray painting and refinish industry is desirable. Additionally, having negotiation and presentation skills is important.
