Supervisor - Financial Reporting and Corporate Advisory

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant with experience in team mentoring, workflow management & supervision to join our Financial Reporting and Corporate Advisory team for a 12-month fixed term contract (parental leave backfill). This is an exciting opportunity to support a high-performing team and contribute to delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial management services that support strategic decision-making.

The team
Our dedicated Contracting team create value and improve the way our clients work. They play a crucial role in providing comprehensive accounting and financial services to clients on a contractual basis.
The role
The primary purpose of this position is to manage client engagements, mentor and train junior staff, and deliver high-quality accounting solutions to meet clients' needs. The Supervisor supports the Manager in ensuring the team's output consistently meets high-quality standards and client expectations whilst fostering robust relationships and meeting contractual obligations. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing work by Seniors for accuracy and timeliness.
- Improving team efficiency by delegating tasks effectively and guiding team task completion in line with procedures.
- Assisting the Manager with client collaboration to meet needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Supporting month-end processes for specific client requirements.
- Fostering a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Identifying and suggesting process improvements for clients and AFS.
- Collaborating with other teams, promoting inter-departmental support.
- Assisting clients in audits for smooth, efficient processes.
- Reviewing non-audit services, ensuring high-quality client deliverables.
- Providing guidance on accounting and compliance matters.
- Offering constructive performance feedback to drive improvement.
- Coaching and developing Seniors for growth.
- Supporting internal projects during downtime, contributing financial insights.
- Providing temporary backfill support as needed.
- Performing tasks essential to department and AFS operations.
About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- Completed a CA (Chartered Accountant), CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) qualification or equivalent.
- Significant experience in accounting and statutory reporting, preferably in a public practice or consulting environment.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate financial data.
- The ability to analyse and interpret financial statements.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and financial management systems.
- Outstanding communication skills, written and spoken, comfortable communicating with individuals across all levels of an organisation.
- Extensive experience in writing reports, observations and communicating results and outcomes to varied audiences.
- A commitment to and understanding the importance of relationship building, with your colleagues, community and your clients.
