TRI Australasia Pty Ltd is a NATA accredited independent, geosynthetics laboratory providing geosynthetics testing & research services to the international community. TRI Australasia is a profitable subsidiary of privately-owned US based Texas Research International, Inc. TRI Australasia  with 14 employees and $5M in revenue, is seeking a Accountant to own the accounting and administration operations working on-site full-time at its Burleigh Heads, QLD location.

This position will involve working side by side with the Director and will provide leadership over everything administration.

About the role

The qualified Accountant/Business Administrator demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, recognising the importance of dedicating full attention to every transaction, no matter how small. Effective time management is imperative in this position, as deadlines are non-negotiable. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging both colleagues and superiors, motivating them to take action without appearing pushy. Curiosity and patience are key traits for success. As a vital component of our business operations, the Accountant/Business Administrator maintains the integrity of our data and documentation with unwavering accuracy.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for full-cycle accounting to include facilitating records for payroll with third party accounting firm;
  • Determine the appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions ensuring compliance with AASB and IFRS and completion of documentation for audit purposes;
  • Reviews source documentation to ensure revenue has been correctly calculated;
  • Generate invoices for customers;
  • Ensure required documentation received from customers authorising services;
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable;
  • Partner with Third Party Accounting firm facilitating monthly financial statements for Director and Corporate Leadership team;
  • Assist Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist with Analysis and follow up on overdue customer accounts;
  • Ensure the requirements of the company's quality management system are followed to include:

  • Overseeing the organisation's quality systems and certification processes;

  • Planning and active engagement in audits and system reviews; and
  • Ensuring calibration frequencies are met and that annual internal reference testing is carried out and evaluated.
  • Analyse processes and identify opportunities for improvement initiatives including implementation and monitoring post-implementation;
  • Prepare accounting records and financial reports per company standards;
  • Prepare and assist in review of results (trend, variance, growth, impairment analyses);
  • Utilise software applications for company accounting operations;
  • Perform record-keeping of all financial operations; and
  • Provide support on ad-hoc projects as required.

What you need

  • Business Degree Qualified
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Have excellent knowledge of excel, specifically XLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
  • Understanding of accounting standards and procedures including IFRS and AASB standards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Desire to handle all administration tasks and work hand in hand with the Director.
  • Self-starter with solid organisational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities or reprioritisation of projects
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills
  • Act with integrity, remaining honest, transparent and respectful in all relationships
  • Foster open collaboration and constructive dialogue with everyone around you
  • Continuously innovate new solutions, influencing and responding to change
  • High attention to detail
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA) preferred
  • Experience with MYOB Acumatica and Xero preferred
  • Experience in Business-to-Business environment
  • Must be able to adapt to an ever-evolving technology landscape
