NSW Resources are looking for a Senior Spatial Officer to join their Assessments and Systems team.

About the role:

The Senior Spatial Services Officer is responsible for collecting, maintaining, and delivering spatial information as part of a team that provides spatial assessments and drafting support, to facilitate the granting and renewal of mining and exploration titles within NSW.

The role also performs survey drafting, cartography, surveying and computer graphics services across NSW Resources.

You'll do this by:

  • Analysing, assessing, and recording spatial data to resolve conflicts, ensure legislative compliance, and advise on land eligibility for mining and exploration titles within required timeframes and KPIs.
  • Providing expert guidance on GIS, ESRI software, spatial data management, cartography, interoperability, and web mapping.
  • Ensuring the integrity and currency of department databases by validating data input.
  • Examining plans of survey for compliance with the instructions and the Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2024 and for inclusion in the State Survey Control network.
  • Working with other business units as a subject matter expert to provide a seamless integration of new systems and software

To be successful you'll need demonstrated experience maintaining accurate spatial records and ensuring legal compliance.

You'll have a proven track record of using your initiative and judgement when providing accurate and detailed information, providing sound technical advice, and producing special maps for stakeholders.

You'll excel in environments where competing priorities, complex challenges, and tight deadlines are the norm, consistently delivering high-quality and timely service and advice to both internal and external clients within set deadlines and statutory frameworks.
