About the Assignment
The primary objective of this position is to lead and oversee all contracting phases including internal approvals for the strategy, tendering, execution and post award management of contracts.
The role supports the Project Services Manager and will work closely across all disciplines to support Contracting requirements.
Tasks include:
- Stewardship of all contracting activities for the project, including establishing effective working relationships and alignment with internal Contracting and Procurement functional group(s).
- Tendering, execution and post-award management of contracts.
- Overall process and coordination of all required participants in the C&P process.
- Developing contracting strategies and securing cross-discipline support as well as management approval for sourcing plans and strategies.
- Incorporation of any local content requirements into the contracting and procurement processes.
- Developing, compiling and conducting of pre-qualification exercises, invitation to tender documentation and evaluation of tenders received.
- Development of C&P-specific deliverables such as the Contracting Strategy and Procurement Plans.
- Stewardship of Contractors with respect to C&P processes.
- Effectively dealing with escalation of issues and ensuring proper follow-up and communication.
- Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.
This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.
Location for this assignment is Brisbane working full-time office hours.
About You
- Qualifications in quantity surveying, engineering, business or a management-related subject is required.
- Contracting & Procurement/ Supply Chain certifications is preferred.
- Proven Contracts administration experience is required
- Experience on medium to large projects, in contracts related roles is required.
- Project experience within the oil and gas industry is desirable
- Global experience, especially in developing countries and / or remote locations (particularly PNG) is desirable
Technical competencies for this position are:
- Development and negotiation experience with complex contracts, specifically in resource sector construction projects.
- Exposure to all disciplines within the supply chain including Contracting and Procurement, Materials Management and Operational Logistics.
- In-depth knowledge of contracting processes and interdependencies.
- Understanding of technical and/or commercial evaluation requirements for medium/ large construction contracts.
- In-depth knowledge of prior applications of various contracting strategies and associated lessons learned.
- Strong knowledge of market drivers and conditions; well versed on contractor skills and capabilities.
- Extensive knowledge of contract administration requirements for medium/ large construction contracts including techniques for monitoring/enhancing contract performance.
- Understanding of typical issues & management processes including being able to address labour relations and national content.
- Understanding of related legal and commercial issues.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in development, execution and management of contracts.
- Demonstrated leadership of interaction with a range of stakeholders at all levels to manage change and work collaboratively across and beyond organizational structures to deliver against business objectives.
- Excellent contracts communications skills, both written and oral, with the ability to challenge others in a constructive manner.
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders to develop strategies, manage expectations and quickly resolve issues.
