Safety Lead – Construction Projects
About the Company
Acquainted Talent are a specialist Health and Safety recruitment consultancy partnering with organisations across Australia. We are exclusively representing a values-driven business at the forefront of sustainable infrastructure and energy solutions. With a strong pipeline of major projects, they are seeking a Safety Lead to take ownership of safety across construction delivery.
About the Role
As Safety Lead, you'll be the driving force behind safety on a major construction project, the delivery of a $50m facility south of Sydney, where the business is acting as the principal contractor. You'll develop and embed robust safety systems, work closely with subcontractors, and ensure compliance and risk management are integrated across every stage of the build.
This role is hands-on, leading the construction safety function for this project, and then continuing to shape safety strategy across future infrastructure developments as the company's construction safety specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project-specific Construction Safety Management Systems and Plans
- Partner with subcontractors and project teams to drive compliance and safe work practices
- Facilitate safety risk workshops and deliver assurance activities
- Provide on-site leadership, technical WHS support, and coaching during project delivery
- Lead investigations (5-Why, ICAM) and embed lessons learned into systems and practices
- Foster a proactive safety culture across the project and organisation
- Contribute safety expertise across broader operations between projects
About You
You're a proactive, solutions-focused HSE professional who thrives in high-risk construction environments. You're confident working autonomously, influencing subcontractors, and building practical systems from the ground up.
You will bring:
- Cert IV or tertiary qualification in WHS (or related)
- Proven experience in construction, infrastructure, or renewables projects
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, systems, and investigations
- Ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders across project environments
Benefits
- Lead safety on a flagship construction project, without the FIFO or regional travel
- Flexible work options: open to 4 days/week, 9-day fortnights, or part-time arrangements
- 2 days WFH available
- A values-driven business with a supportive team culture and a genuine commitment to safety and sustainability
- Ongoing opportunities to work across a growing portfolio of major infrastructure projects
