**Health and Safety Partner (Assurance)**

**About the team**

The Safety, Environment and Regulation (SER) division leads policy, strategy, standards, advice and support across safety, environment, sustainability, asset management and regulatory outcomes for customers, community and our people (including contractors). SER provides ‘centres of excellence’ with a critical mass of expertise to support line accountability, facilitate consistency and provide assurance across transport. It also delivers a range of regulatory programs.

**The opportunity**

We have an exciting full time permanent opportunity for a Health and Safety Partner (Assurance) to join our SER division based in Macquarie Park.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health and Safety (Assurance) the primary purpose of this role is responsible for the development of assurance frameworks, leading and developing reporting for steering committees, delivering quarterly health and safety sub-committee packs and other ad-hoc activates to assist the audit team.

This role provides advice for the maintenance of an effective risk management process, through implementing all safety policies, protocols and procedures and keeping correct and up-to-date administrative records. It partners with teams to facilitate training in safety policies and requirements across all project activities on behalf of the NSW State Government in accordance to the Rail Safety National Law, Work Health and Safety Act, Work Health and Safety Regulation, Heavy Vehicle National Law, relevant Work Health and Safety Legislation and Codes of Practice.

As the Health and Safety Partner you will:

- Provide expert advice in reviewing processes, practices and documentation to ensure sound governance and appropriate systems are in place to manage key business risks throughout the lifecycle of projects, including Safety Management Plans, Operational, Safety and Maintenance Plans, O&M manuals and Incident Management Plans
- Manage the development of initiatives, programs and processes that result in best practice outcomes in the health and safety that go beyond our compliance accountabilities
- Provide technical expertise and professional advice on rail safety, heavy vehicle national law (HVNL) and/or health & safety issues and participate in compliance with safety audit for the relevant safety contractors and consultants

**About you**
- Tertiary qualifications in health and safety and/or extensive relevant industry experience
- You have demonstrated successful stakeholder management and strong interpersonal and communication skills with an advanced level of report writing skills and a forensic eye for detail.
- You have a strong working knowledge of Work Health and Safety Legislation and Codes of Practice and an aptitude of keeping abreast of revisions and changes in transport health and safety legislation.
- You will be expected to have a high level of understanding of NSW rail legislation and WHS regulations including ISO45001 and governance practices
- You will be process driven and can self-manage to deliver to safety governance deadlines.

**Salary and benefits**

This role is offered at Transport Grade 9 $142,178 - $159,238 plus superannuation and leave loading.
