About Us

The Women, Family and Community Safety Directorate leads the development, implementation and monitoring of domestic and family violence (DFV) policies, programs and reforms across the Department of Communities and Justice.

The DFV Systems Reform branch in WFCS is responsible for policy and reform to our DFV response service systems, including:

  • evaluating and optimising our existing DFV program and service responses and developing new response service models where needed
  • investigating, optimising and reforming DFV responses across the justice system, specialist support services for DFV victim-survivors and inter-agency DFV responses such as Safer Pathway
  • improving key service enablers, including information sharing, risk assessment and referrals.

A key focus of the branch is working with the DFV service system to respond to the complexity of DFV. This includes working with intimate partner violence (IPV) and family violence and responding to the diversity of victim-survivors. The branch also has a role in direct service support and service provision through oversight of the Safer Pathway system and the DV Notify system.

About the Roles /What you'll do

We are recruiting for Senior Policy and Project Officers with a range of skills and expertise to support a program of reform to the DFV service system.

We are looking for people with significant experience in policy and reform development and implementation, project management and program management.

The program of work over the next few years will involve:

  • undertaking cross-agency, systems reforms to support a more integrated, whole-of-Government response to DFV through the Safer Pathway program
  • providing strategic program management and support for a state-wide DFV program to ensure best practice service delivery
  • testing, refining and implementing the CARAS to ensure victim-survivors receive a safe and consistent response across the NSW service sector
  • further develop and enhance DV Notify in collaboration with varied stakeholders using a human-centred and design thinking approach
  • consideration of information sharing provisions, including a feasibility study for the establishment of a Central Information Point or other mechanism to support information sharing
  • research to inform the design of new or reformed service offerings, including consideration of specialist DFV services for children and young people.

About the Branches & the Teams

The Multiple ongoing and temporary roles will be across Domestic and Family Violence Systems Reform branch in the Women, Family and Community Safety (WFCS) Directorate in the following teams:

Safer Pathway

This team supports the delivery of a state-wide domestic and family violence (DFV) service and leads several cross-agency projects to enhance the Safer Pathway system.

DV Notify

This team is focused on the design, development and implementation of a new digital service that improves victim-survivor safety. The team also identifies others digital enablers to strengthen a DFV response system that is victim-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe.

DFV Services Strategy

This team is focused on strategy and reform of the DFV service system, including innovations to better respond to children and young people as victims in their own right.

DFV Information Sharing

This team is focused on information sharing to keep perpetrators in view and accountable, and support victim-survivors and keep them safe, while respecting people's right to privacy.

Common Approach to Risk and Safety (CARAS)

The CARAS is a risk assessment framework to improve the ability of all workforces to identify DFV risk and provide an appropriate response. This team is focused on the development, design and implementation this important reform work.

This recruitment will also be used to fill a temporary role in the Intergovernmental Relations team in the DFSV Strategy and Investment branch of the WFCS Directorate. This team supports the directorate to fulfill national and state-level obligations to end gender-based violence, through supporting the delivery of National Cabinet tasks, strategic projects, and priority research.
