Join the NSW Department of Education as a Senior Policy Officer (Clerk Grade 9/10)

We are excited to announce multiple openings for Senior Policy Officer within our Teaching and Learning Support directorate.

• Location: Parramatta, with some access to various NSW Education offices and flexible working arrangements available

• Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10 with base salary ranging from $129,464 to $142,665 per annum, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

• 2 x Temporary full-time opportunity up to 28 January 2029, with possibility for extension or conversion to ongoing

About the Teaching and Learning Support directorate
The Teaching and Learning Support (TLS) directorate enables schools, teachers and the system to support all learners to effectively and equitably access and engage with the curriculum to reach their potential. TLS develops and delivers evidence-based professional learning, resources and advice to schools to enable the provision of an outstanding education for every learner.

About the role
The Senior Policy Officer manages and coordinates the development and implementation of a range of policy initiatives to contribute to the delivery of policy initiatives that support business unit commitments.

We are seeking a proactive and motivated employee to:

• Undertake policy review, using research, evidence and data to assess relevance, accuracy and effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Implement and oversee projects, including monitoring progress, managing risks, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and relevant frameworks.

• Engage constructively with stakeholders to consult, test ideas, and ensure policy and project initiatives are informed by diverse perspectives.

• Prepare clear, accurate, and well-structured reports, briefings, and advice to support decision-making and communicate complex information effectively to diverse stakeholders.

• Apply strong attention to detail and organisational skills to deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.

• Design and deliver policy implementation support and resources, including working with schools as needed.

Key knowledge and experience:

• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements:

• Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one) 

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
