We are currently seeking an energetic and customer-focused individual to join our team in Newcastle. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of UGL's growing Mining sector. Regular travel is an essential requirement of this role.
About Your Role:
You will be instrumental in maintaining and expanding UGL's Mining customer base across NSW.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key mining clients fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans tailored to achieve sales targets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with customer needs and industry demands.
- Lead key tenders and proposals, identifying and capturing new opportunities in the mining sector while driving business development projects that deliver tangible results.
- Actively support UGL's Off Highway Vehicle Unit Exchange (UTEX) program, with a focus on growing its presence and opportunities in the NSW market.
- Consistently report on sales performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to sustain continuous growth within the mining sector.
About You:
You are a professional with strong technical knowledge in the mining sector, particularly with Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Mining equipment, and are skilled at developing and nurturing lasting relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Your experience lies in the Mining, Civil Infrastructure, or Construction industries, ideally with a background in an Account Management or Business Development role.

Key skills and experience:
- Technical Knowledge of Mining Equipment: A solid understanding of off-highway vehicles and mining equipment, including their specifications, functionalities, and applications. This includes knowledge of various OHV components to suit electrical mining OHV, wheel motors, alternators and associated components.
- Sales Process and Techniques: Proficiency in sales methodologies tailored for technical products, such as consultative selling. Ability to navigate the sales cycle effectively, from lead generation and qualification to closing deals, specifically in the mining sector.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Experience using CRM tools to track customer interactions, manage sales pipelines, and analyse client needs. Strong skills in building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique challenges, and offering tailored solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ability to create compelling presentations and proposals that effectively highlight product benefits and ROI to clients.
- Market Awareness: Knowledge of the mining industry, including trends, key players, competitors, and market demands. Staying updated on technological advancements in OHV mining components and their impact on sales strategies helps tailor offerings to meet evolving client needs.
- Negotiation and Closing Skills: Strong negotiation skills to facilitate discussions around pricing, features, and contract terms. The ability to secure beneficial agreements while maintaining customer satisfaction is key to long-term success in technical sales.
- Maintenance and Overhaul Procedures: Understanding of systematic inspection, diagnosis, teardown, repair, refurbishment, reassembly, and quality assurance processes for mining machinery components.
- Workshop Practices: Knowledge of workshop safety protocols, equipment handling, precision measurements, use of specialised tools and machinery, and application of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Problem Solving and Technical Support: Ability to diagnose client issues related to OHV components and provide effective solutions. This includes collaborating with technical teams to address complex customer inquiries and support installations or technical product reviews.
