Introduction

Reporting directly to the Country Manager Australia, in this 15-month maternity leave contract, you will be accountable for ensuring the efficient running of the Sydney operational department, responsible for the training, mentoring & development of the Team Supervisors and their operations coordinators. Service both Customers and Hillebrand GORI through the effective use of in-house operational systems, adherence to key policies and procedures, compliance with global freight agreements & vessel allocations. You will develop effective relationships not only with suppliers, customers, service providers & overseas Hillebrand offices, but also develop a strong team environment. You will be a key pillar in the GSC implementation process.

Main Activities

Reporting to the Country Manager, you will be responsible to ensure all aspects of operations are complied with and according to the company's standards from order creation to delivery at destination. The position involves extensive communication with local customers and suppliers, as well as overseas Hillebrand GORI offices and / or agents.

Key tasks

  • Maintain accurate financial files
  • Manage & complete Month End close
  • MEC Operational report
  • Monitor KPI's to ensure service & target levels are exceeded
  • Monitor the quality of data
  • Team development & support, particularly as regards initial & ongoing training
  • Ensure new / existing procedures set by the group, Country Manager or Business Unit Manager are followed and completed
  • Handle team leaders' activities as / when required
  • Have regular meetings with your team leaders, to discuss any issues or concerns.
  • Ensure SOPs are in place for all our business on either a trade lane, supplier or customer specific basis
  • Manage all operational staff leave / absences in conjunction with team leaders.

  • Be the point of contact / control for insurance matters (Claim/Lodgment/Settlements).

  • Oversee the GSC implementation process and provide support to the team throughout the transition

  • Cover the desk when the Team Leader is on leave
  • Cover desks of other team members as needed

Required Competencies

  • Supervisory & Leadership experience, ability to manage & motivate a large, busy team
  • Well organized, excellent communication skills, literacy & numeracy, with an ability to deal with staff at all levels
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and work to tight deadlines. Ability to see the bigger picture and handle projects to completion.
  • Tasks & Objectives completed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to analyze beyond raw numbers.
