The big picture:
In this role you would be responsible for maintaining the commercial laboratory operations, development and managing the laboratory staff and upholding a high level of customer service. This diverse fulltime position heads up a small, friendly and competent team in Banksmeadow, NSW.
Specific role responsibilities:
- Overall responsible for Safety, Quality, Operations and Financial performance of the laboratory
Maintain ISO17025 accreditation of the laboratory
Maintain Good Laboratory Practice
- Management and development of Laboratory staff
- Prepare formal quotes for customers, where required.
- Ensure testing data is entered into customer data base
- Be receptive to customer / company requests and/or deadlines.
- Support other AmSpec departments (internal customers).
- Follow through with external and internal customers & gauge customer satisfaction.
- Serving as focal point for Quality Assurance / Quality Control and be responsible for the oversight and review of quality control data on a routine basis.
- Maintain a good relationship with the surveying department to coordinate work.
- Prepare corrective and preventative action reports for all matters related to Quality Assurance / Quality Control and keeping all records for review.
- Ensuring technically correct analysis on a daily basis.
- Address all technical issues that arise from routine analysis and confer with National Technical Manager of Laboratories on issues of less routine nature.
- Monitor performance of testing equipment following Quality Control procedures. Must document and maintain accurate records for all quality control samples.
- Perform or delegate to laboratory staff tasks for instrument calibrations and preventative maintenance.
- Provide on-going training and support to laboratory staff.
- Controlling the lab equipment and supply inventory. Coordinate the replacement or repair of faulty equipment and supplies.
- Develop identified methodologies for expansion of testing capabilities
Essential Requirements
- Bachelors degree or Diploma
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in petroleum, petrochemical, oil and/or chemical industries
- Strong supervisory experience and interpersonal skills, as well as technical and theoretical knowledge of laboratory operations.
Required Skills:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good inter-personal skills
- Thorough understanding of safety and training issues
- Strong comprehension of Quality Assurance Systems.
- Excellent communication – written and verbal
