Senior Administrative Representative - Contract Manager

Canberra | 12-Month Contract | APS6 Level

We're seeking a Senior Administrative Representative - Contract Manager to join the Business Operations Branch.

This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a high-trust, purpose-driven team focused on recovery-oriented, client-centred, trauma-informed care.

What You'll Be Doing

As a key player in our Business Operations Branch, you'll manage a broad portfolio of low to medium risk contracts, with responsibilities that include:

  • Leading the procurement, development, and management of contracts that underpin our national counselling services.
  • Monitoring contract performance and risk, ensuring compliance with policy and value-for-money outcomes.
  • Analysing contract data, budgets, and KPIs to support informed, timely decision-making.
  • Advising on variations, extensions, and expiry, and ensuring smooth transitions where needed.
  • Navigating and interpreting Commonwealth procurement rules and departmental guidelines.
  • Building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including governance, legal, finance, and service delivery teams.
  • Supporting administrative functions - from documentation and reporting to collaboration tools and branch operations.

What You Bring

You're confident operating in a complex, fast-moving government environment, and bring:

  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement and contracts (low/medium risk)
  • Strong working knowledge of government procurement frameworks and financial policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - especially in drafting complex documents
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to untangle complexity and suggest smart solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work on time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Experience in government systems or DVA environments (desirable)
